Chinese pork spare ribs



  • 2 pork rib racks (with 10 ribs per rack)
  • 40 g olive oil
  • 1 onion, cut in half
  • 30 g tomato paste
  • 30 g soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 40 g Maple syrup
  • 1 cm piece of ginger


  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C and line a tray with baking paper
  2. Place onion, garlic and ginger in mixing bowl and chop 3 seconds, speed 5. Scrape down sides of bowl
  3. Add oil and cook 3 mins, varoma, speed 1
  4. Add tomato paste, soy sauce, vinegar and maple syrup and mix for 5 seconds, speed 5
  5. Place the ribs on the baking tray and cover with the sauce
  6. Bake for 40 minutes
  7. While the ribs are baking, cook 350g rice in the Thermomix
