Baked piri-piri fish with crushed potatoes


  • 600g small new potatoes
  • 2 red peppers, cut into chunky pieces
  • Olive oil
  • Salt, pepper and dried herbs like thyme for seasoning
  • 4 large fillets of white fish, skinless and boneless
  • Salad leaves
  • Lemon wedges

Piri-piri sauce

  • 6 hot pickled Peppadew peppers
  • 1 tsp chilli flakes
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Juice and zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt


  1. Heat oven to 200°C
  2. Boil the potatoes until knife-tender, then drain
  3. Spread out the potatoes on a large baking tray and gently crush with the back of a spatula
  4. Add the peppers and coat everything with olive oil, salt, pepper and dried herbs
  5. Roast for 25 mins
  6. While the vegetables are roasting, place all the piri-piri sauce ingredients into the Thermomix and blend for 10 seconds on speed 7
  7. Once the vegetables have roasted for 25 minutes, take the tray out and clear a spot for the fish fillets
  8. Put the fish on the baking tray and spoon over the piri-piri sauce
  9. Season and bake for another 10 minutes
  10. Serve the fish and potatoes with salad leaves and a lemon wedge
