Grilled steak with mushroom gravy

  • 1 fillet of steak per person
  • 200g mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 packet of organic beef gravy powder OR 500ml beef stock / bone broth
  • Olive oil

Serve with:

  • Sweet potato mash (see cookidoo for recipe)
  • Vegetables e.g. broccolini

  1. Add a little olive oil to a pan on high heat and add the steak when hot
  2. Reduce the temperature to medium and cook until brown on each side, only turning once (duration depends on how you like your steak, we aim for medium but usually end up with medium/well done).
  3. Once cooked, set aside to rest
  4. In the same pan (don’t clean it in between), reduce the heat to low and add mushrooms. Sautee until soft
  5. Add the gravy powder and slowly add water while stirring until you reach your desired thickness OR add stock/broth and simmer, season with salt & pepper to taste and add 1 tbsp corn flour mixed with 2 tbsp cold water to thicken
  6. Serve steak topped with mushroom gravy, sweet potato mash and steamed vegetables
